The Guardhas been breaking Irish box-office records all summer.

Last week, with €4.13 million in receipts, the film overtook The Wind That Shakes the Barleyto become the most successful independent Irish film of all time in the domestic market. It has also managed to edge ahead of such hits from last year as The Hangover 2and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
