The saga of MGM’s struggle against financial annihilation continues. Sahara India Pariwar – a serious player in Bollywood – has joined forces with the Broccoli dynasty, the family behind the Bond franchise, to propose a $2 billion (€1.5 billion) buy-out of the troubled Hollywood studio.
EON, the company that produces the 007 films, had to suspend production on the latest episode when the seriousness of MGM’s financial crisis became clear. So the deal makes sense for Barbara Broccoli, daughter of late Bond supremo Cubby, and her extended clan.
Other options do remain. Time Warner and Lions Gate Entertainment are still circling the injured giant.
