Barely a week goes by without us bemoaning a remake that we don’t need. The latest such beast is a retread of Carrie, Brian de Palma’s great Stephen King adaptation from 1976, directed by Kimberly Pierce.

Mind you, the suggestion that Chloe Moretz, star of Hugo and Let Me In, is to star as the mad schoolgirl does raise the spirits somewhat.
