The hard-working folk at the Dublin Film Critics Circle have delivered their list of the best films from 2010

The hard-working folk at the Dublin Film Critics Circle have delivered their list of the best films from 2010. Unsurprisingly, Jacques Audiard's The Prophet cameout at the head of the heap.

Having premiered at Cannes way back in 2009, the Audiard film certainly feels like it’s been around for a long time but, in fact, it did not open in these territories until early this year. Virtually every member of the society, culled from professional critics in the capital, voted for the searing French crime drama.

The top 10 ran as follows:

1. A Prophet

2. Winter's Bone

3. Toy Story 3

5. Dogtooth

6. Inception

7. Uncle Boonmee Who Can Remember His Past Lives

8. The Roadand Bad Lieutenant

10. The Illusionistand A Room and a Half and Of Gods and Men.

Interesting inclusions include – buoyed by votes from this correspondent – Andrey Khrzhanovskiy's undervalued A Room and a Halfand the superbly creepy Korean film Mother. Best actor was Tahar Rahim from A Prophet. Jennifer Lawrence ( Winter's Bone) picked up a breakthrough award. To the amazement of nobody, His & Hersedged past Savage, The Fading Light, The Pipeand Zonadto take the best Irish film gong. That film, still to receive significant overseas release, now achieves domestic phenomenon status.
