It’s not often that a conductor from the National Concert Hall’s international orchestral series turns up in Dublin again to conduct one of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s Friday subscription concerts. But Jakub Hrusa (pictured left), who conducted the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra at the NCH last October, makes his debut with the NSO tonight.

The programme is a rewardingly heavyweight one, with the inspirational Latvian violinist Baiba Skride (pictured right) in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto followed by Bruckner’s Romantic Symphony.

And Hrusa is doing more than conducting. He can also be heard in a pre-performance conversation with fellow- conductor Colman Pearce.
