Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the death of a woman in her 50s whose body was discovered on a property in Co Roscommon.
The woman, who it is understood was born in Croatia, was the subject of a Garda missing person’s appeal at the weekend which was stood down on Monday following the discovery of her body.
When making the appeal, the gardaí said she had been reported missing from her home in Athlone, Co Westmeath, and had last been seen in Athlone in the early hours of Saturday morning. They said they and the woman’s family had serious concerns for her wellbeing.
No further details were made available by gardaí but a property in Athlone was sealed off on Monday and was the focus of a forensic examination.
