A man in his 40s has died following a single vehicle crash in Co Clare.
The incident happened on the N85 Ennis bypass at around 12.30pm on Monday. The driver of the vehicle, aged in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he later died.
A Garda spokesman said the Co Clare coroner has been notified and that the road has since reopened following a technical examination. The death is the 81st on the State’s roads this year.
Meanwhile, a teenager was taken to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition following a crash in Swinford, Co Mayo in the early hours of Monday. Four other males, all in their teens, were injured in the single-vehicle crash which happened just before 4am.

All five were initially brought by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar. The teenager who was later transferred to Beaumont suffered head injuries. He was a passenger in the vehicle, which overturned.
Garda forensic collision investigators were on Monday examining the crash scene at Deerpark, Swinford.
