This chef can't carry out a taste test because it is, in fact, an advanced AI computer system but that doesn't stop it from coming up with some amazing recipes. IBM's Watson supercomputer made headlines in 2011 when it beat human contestants on US TV show Jeopardy! by answering questions that would stump Siri and the gang.
Watson has now been fed 10,000 recipes from a cookery database as well as information on cooking styles, food chemistry and human taste preferences. The result is a web app that provides recipes with flavour combinations that taste good but break the traditional culinary mould. Strawberry curry or chocolate burritos, anyone?
