US technology firm Sungard Availability Services is to create 50 jobs in Dublin, the company said on Tuesday.

The new positions will be in several areas including technical operations, customer services and sales and marketing.

Sungard, which provides managed IT, cloud and recover services, is entering into a new partnership in which it will host its services at the data centre firm’s Digital Realty Trust’s facilities in west Dublin.

"This expansion will not only help us evolve our current services for these rapidly growing organisations, but also enables us to attract more business from across the world - and in return, jobs - to the area," said Gary Watson, general manager of Sungard.
