How creative are you? The Offbits allows you to build your own robot from a kit made from odds and ends, and expand it with things you can find lying around the house/shed/toolbox. A stray spring here, an unused bolt there; it all helps when you are trying to build the ultimate robot. Of course it helps if you begin the process with a starter kit, and Offbits has a few to choose from. Each has its own name and story, but they were all (apparently) sent to Earth after being exiled from their home planet, the aptly name Planet Bot. The story is incidental – what matters about Offbits is putting them together is actually fun. You can create your robot and put it on a magnetic stand at your desk, or you can add your own creative flair and find bits and pieces around the house. Or you could spring for the extension kits which add vehicles and the like to the robots. It’s like a more customisable version of Lego, mainly because you can’t break apart home appliances to harvest a new source of Lego.
