IRISH ONLINE recruiter Saongroup, which is owned by Denis O’Brien and Leslie Buckley, has expanded its operation into Nicaragua.
The company has opened an office in the capital, Managua, in a move that fills out its coverage in central America, where it trades as Tecoloco.com.
Tecoloco.com was founded in El Salvador in 2001 and acquired by Saongroup three years ago.
It has offices in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica and holds just under one million CVs in its system.
“The launch of Tecoloco.com in Nicaragua completes Saongroup.com’s presence in every country across Central America,” Saongroup chief executive Ciarán McCooey said.
“Nicaragua’s internet penetration is the lowest in the region at just over 10 per cent, but is on the rise. This market represents an exciting opportunity, particularly as the economy is beginning to show positive signs of growth.”
Saongroup has operations in the UK, Europe, the US, China, South Africa, Central America and the Caribbean. Its owns Irishjobs.ie here.
In May, it announced a major expansion in China, to almost 100 cities from its current base of 25.
Latest accounts for Saongroup show it returned to the black in 2009 in spite of a 25 per cent fall in revenues.
Saongroup Ltd’s turnover declined to €24.9 million but a 35 per cent reduction in its cost base allowed it to post a pretax profit of €2.6 million in 2009.
