More people will access the Internet via their mobile phones than via their personal computers within three years, according to a new report from KPMG.
Mobile Internet - Any Place, Any Time, Everything predicts the majority of electronic commerce transactions will terminate or originate on a wireless device. It cites research from Durlacher which estimates the market for m-commerce will be worth €23 billion by 2003, compared with €300 million two years ago.
Businesses planning to avail of these opportunities will need to re-focus their corporate visions towards data centred services. The report says businesses need to transfer the responsibility for technology and implementation risks to specialists.
