IRISH COMEDIAN Graham Norton (pictured) must have been soooo happy with the performance last year of his British TV production company.

Latest accounts for So Television Ltd, producers of the Graham Norton Showon the Beeb, show it achieved a four-fold rise in its after-tax profit to £578,676 following strong growth in TV production and distribution income.

Norton and his business partner Graham Stuart each received a £500,000 dividend while the Cork-born star also earned £124,060 in fees last year.

Turnover rose by 10 per cent to £8 million and its accumulated profits increased to just shy of €1.9 million at the end of July 2009.

Q4 PR Ltd, the agency run by Martin Mackin, Jackie Gallagher, Gerry O’Sullivan and Angie Kinane, appears to be weathering the recession well.

Accounts just filed show its accumulated profits increased to €1.84 million in the year to the end of June 2009 from €1.45 million a year earlier. It numbers Tesco, Norkom, Arnotts and EBS among its clients.

Irish legal firm ByrneWallace has opened an office in New York – its first in the US.

“We’re seeing increasing US interest in investing in Ireland and, despite challenges, Irish businesses are stepping up their activity levels in the US also so it’s a good time for us to take this step,” managing partner Paul McGennis said.
