Insulation specialist Kingspan will supply one of the UK's biggest house builders with products that will allow the building company to comply with new British rules for house construction.

Barrat Homes said it had agreements with a number of companies to supply it with building materials and components for homes built using "modern method construction" (MMC).

The British company said one of the companies with which it had done a supply deal was Kingspan Offsite, a subsidiary of Irish Stock Exchange-listed Kingspan.

A Barrat spokesman said yesterday that it was not possible to put a value on the deal as the amount and materials supplied would depend on demand and the type of components it would need at any time.

Kingspan did not comment on the deal. The Irish company focuses on manufacturing products that cut energy use in homes.

The British government recently introduced new building standards designed to reduce energy consumption in new houses.

MMC systems are geared at complying with the new regulations.

Kingspan has a number of operations in the UK.

It believes its technology positions the Irish company to cash in on the opportunities offered by the new regulations.
