Has somebody slipped something funny into the water coolers at Dublin's brokerages recently? Last week, Goodbody Stockbrokers got itself all tongue-tied over its grasp of Latin. This week, Davy had a fit of something and appeared to make a comment over the, er, shape of US monetary policy.
Davy's monthly Debt Digest note mused over the future of quantitative easing in the US, where policy is set by the Federal Reserve, which is chaired by Janet Yellen.
In a comment about investors making hay while cheap money lasts, Davy said: “ . . . as long as the music’s playing, you gotta get up and dance. Meanwhile, in Washington, there sits a fat lady . . . not impatiently waiting to sing!”
Surely the finest minds in Davy weren’t making an ill-advised comment about Yellen’s physique?
I did ask, but I was met with what some might perceive as a guilty silence.
