SINGAPORE-LISTED EuNetworks is to extend its fibre link in Europe with a new deal that will allow it to link its Dublin network with other metropolitan networks around the continent.
The company, which operates fibre-optic networks around Europe, has signed up UK-based Geo Networks to provide the fibre link from Dublin to Slough. The route will run through Bristol, Stoke, Manchester and Anglesey.
The new fibre network will allow EuNetworks to expand its market reach and meet rising bandwidth demand from customers.
EuNetworks has 13 operational metropolitan networks across Europe, including Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, The Hague, Paris, London and Dublin.
Geo Networks designs and builds fibre networks for customers, providing an open access service to clients. Its range of services includes the provision of fully-managed networks, dark fibre and co-location services.
Chris Smedley, Geo Networks’ chief executive, said the link provided by his company would improve connectivity for Irish businesses and broadband customers.
“Ireland is known for the presence of innovative media and technology companies, and it’s critical to support them with the flexible bandwidth capacity they need to continue to attract this kind of business.”
