Opportunities for ’innovative Irish companies’ in region real, says Minister Bruton

Enterprise Ireland has said its "five day, five city" trade mission to the Gulf States has resulted in the creation of 28 Irish-based jobs and €16 million in contracts for Irish companies.

The delegates, led by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, visited the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

One of the related announcements was an agreement with the Mater Private Healthcare Group to provide medical cover for Dubai's police force, including retired officers and family members.

Limerick-based Tango Telecom secured a partnership with Thuraya Telecommunications to roll out a next generation messaging platform.

Minister Bruton, who will now embark on a similar mission to India, said opportunities for Irish companies in the region were "real and tangible".

The mission had been focusing on aviation, IT, software and agricultural technology among other sectors.
