A company director, Michael Murphy, with an address in Rathgar, Dublin 6, has reached a settlement of over €7 million, according to the latest list of tax defaulters.
Mr Murphy, of 60 Highfield Road, Rathgar, Dublin 6 was listed as having been subject to a Revenue offshore assets investigation. The money related to underdeclaration of income tax, VAT and Capital Gains Tax. The settlement is comprised of a €2.387 million bill in tax, €2.821 million in interest and €1.79 million in penalties.
He is a director of property company Astondale Investments, which was wound up by its shareholders in March, and Astondale Construction, which was dissolved in 2010.
The Companies' Registration Office lists him as the previous director of a number of other businesses connected with property or property management.
An overall total of €24.7 million was revealed in 100 settlements. A number of other settlements were for over €1 million.
John Tierney, a "retired company director" with an address in Dun Laoghaire, paid €1.486 million and was also subject to an offshore assets investigation. James Spollen, a company director with an address in Tullamore, reached a settlement of €1.044 million.
This list includes a number of medical consultants, many of whom made large settlements for under-declaring income tax and social insurance following revenue audits.
