Waterford Institute of Technology’s €2.8 million eDigiregion project has opened a call for innovative ideas related to information and communications technology (ICT) that will benefit the development, sustainability and profitability of the “internet of things” or agriculture industries.

The selected concept will receive intensive development, mentoring and commercialisation support in a two-day workshop to be held in May in Bucharest, Romania. The closing date for entries is this Friday.

EDigiregion project director Prof Bill O’Gorman said concepts can be early-stage ideas for innovative products or services that are targeted at industry or at precision agriculture.

On the subject of third-level institutions, the newly established Leadership and Talent Institute at Dublin City University will host a one-day conference at Carton House this Wednesday.
