TWO COMPANIES will seek to have construction group P Elliott wound up in the courts this month.

Cavan-based P Elliott laid off most of its staff shortly before Easter, and at least one creditor has served it with a formal demand for payment of a debt.

Yesterday, it emerged that two suppliers, Williaam Cox and Oran Pre-Cast, are petitioning the High Court to have the company wound up. Both cases are due to be heard on Monday, May 23rd.

Creditors and other parties have the right to ask the court to wind up companies that have not paid their debts.

The Elliott group is involved in both contracting – design and construction for other parties – and property development.

Most recently it had been working on a site at St Patrick’s teacher training college in Drumcondra on the northside of Dublin.

Both suppliers seeking to wind it up are well known in the building industry.

Williaam Cox supplied the glass facade which makes up most of the outside of the Aviva Stadium on Landsdowne Road. That project is not connected with the action it is taking against P Elliott and Company.

Galway-based Oran PreCast supplies concrete products and materials used in the structure and foundations of buildings.

The Elliott group met industry representatives recently to discuss concerns over delays in payments to sub-contractors.
