Businessman Derek Ryan, who operates the successful Yamamori restaurant business in Dublin, has bought the Ormond Quay premises occupied by his firm.

He outbid a number of competitors when paying €3.3 million for the two interconnecting Georgian buildings at 38-39 Ormond Quay which overlook the river Liffey beside the Ha’penny Bridge.

It has a particularly spacious restaurant on the ground floor including an open kitchen, bar, private dining room and a courtyard with rear access from Great Strand Street.

Ancillary accommodation including toilets and stores are located in the basement.

Overhead there are eight apartments producing an annual rent of €108,000. The restaurant was sublet to Yamamori some years ago by the Milano group at an annual rent of €150,000.

Yamamori also operates a sister Japanese-style restaurant in South Great George’s Street and a second restaurant on the opposite side of the street which was originally run by Bewleys.
