FBD Hotels and Resorts has announced a €7 million refurbishment and expansion plan for Castleknock Hotel and Country Club in west Dublin.

The development will increase room capacity at the four-star venue by 46 to 190 and create 20 permanent jobs on completion.

Construction is set to begin in November and be completed in early 2018.

FBD Hotels and Resorts owns and manages Castleknock Hotel and County Club; Faithlegg House Hotel in Waterford; and Tower Hotel and Leisure Centre in Waterford. It also owns two resorts in southern Spain, La Cala and Sunset Beach Club.

Chief executive David Kelly said: "Castleknock Hotel is in a prime location and has been performing consistently well since the economic recovery began."

“With all the indicators pointing to a continued demand for hotel rooms in the capital, our expansion is timely,” he said.
