€75,000 rent for top corner shop opposite Dublin’s GPO

Best Menswear: the shop at 34 O’Connell Street has retail use at basement, ground, first and second floors for a combined retail space of 192sq m (2,066sq ft)

A high-profile corner shop opposite the GPO has come on the letting market.

Savills is quoting a rent of €75,000 for the Best Menswear outlet at 34 O'Connell Street, which is owned and currently occupied by the Best Menswear Group. The building occupies a pivotal location at the junction of O'Connell Street and North Earl Street.

Best Menswear is streamlining its stand-alone store network to focus on its larger format stores, with a particular emphasis on developing its shopping centre presence.

The O’Connell Street building comprises 331sq m (3,563sq ft) over five levels and is presented in excellent condition.

There is retail use at basement, ground, first and second floors – the total retail space is 192sq m (2,066sq ft) – while the remaining floors are given over to ancillary office and storage.

Savills’ Stephen McCarthy, who is handling the letting, says these remaining floors could suit a wide variety of uses, including café/food use subject to planning.
