This week marked the final installment of the AIB Start-up Academy, an intensive eight-week training programme run by Irish Times Training with a tailored focus on driving start-up companies. After completing seven modules focusing on a range of topics including networking skills, finance, marketing and eCommerce, on March 16, the 11 finalists underwent training in pitch preparation ahead of their final pitch of the competition .
The finalists were given a presentation in the art of public speaking by Starcom Managing Director, Craig Farrell. The module helped the start-ups explore and develop the skills required to prepare and deliver professional pitches. Participants also had the opportunity for a one-on-one coaching session with Lisa Hughes of Irish Times Training. Following a test of their current slide deck, the finalists received individual feedback and coaching on how to improve delivery, timing, and content.
The 11 finalists will be making their final pitches at 7pm next Thursday, when one winner will be chosen for the overall prize. This event will take place in the Sugar Club, Leeson Street (doors are 6.30pm). If you are interested in attending, please email ldowner@irishtimes.com.
