Belvedere Youth Club in central Dublin and Refarm will be the first beneficiaries of State-owned CIÉ Tours’ new Sustainability Action Fund.
Belvedere provides activities for 330 young people from the centre of the capital, while Refarm, a partnership between Trinity College Dublin and Burrenbeo Trust, funds the creation and management of wildlife ponds, hedgerows, woodlands and species-rich grasslands on Irish farms.
What’s in store for 2025?
Managing director of CIÉ Tours Stephen Cotter said the 30,000 people that the tour operator brings to the Republic every year visit urban and rural Ireland. Consequently, the company wanted to acknowledge the contribution that city and country communities make to its business.
“Our first two projects are quite different and reflect the potential reach of the fund,” added Mr Cotter.
