A SEARCH is continuing for an Irishman who went missing from his home in Australia at the weekend, just days before he was due to return to Ireland.

The sisters of Seán Walsh (26), from Dungarvan, Co Waterford, flew out to Sydney on Wednesday to join in the search.

Mr Walsh went missing from his home in Randwick in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Sunday. He was last seen by his flatmates at about 3am that morning.

His friends said Mr Walsh, who has been in Sydney for six months as part of an round-the-world trip, had become withdrawn in the days leading up to his disappearance. He was due to fly home on Tuesday but failed to turn up at the airport, at which point the alarm was raised.

Seán's sister Brid Walsh told the Sydney Morning Heraldthat it was very unlike their brother not to have been in touch with his family.

Sydney police say they have “serious concerns” for the welfare of Mr Walsh.
