Former employees at the Peerless Rug factory in Athy, Co Kildare, are continuing a sit-in for the third day following the closure of the plant with a loss of 65 jobs.
Talks between unions and management of Peerless Rugs concluded without agreement last night.
Mr Michael Dowling, secretary of SIPTU's Athy branch, told ireland.comworkers and the factory's receivers, KPMG, will present their cases before a full hearing of the Labour Court on Monday at 3 p.m.
There are currently two workers inside the factory, which is being occupied a round-the-clock. Two more are on the way, according to one of the workers who spoke to ireland.com, but did not wish to be named.
The man said he hoped the Labour Court hearing would produce results: "It’s all that’s left for us. There might be something got out of what’s left."
Two nights ago workers locked the gates of plant preventing senior managers and a receiver from leaving the premises until 1.30 a.m.
The workers took the action after they were told the plant was to close immediately - nearly two weeks earlier than planned.
The company announced the closure of the plant at the end of May. Management blamed competition from developing countries for the closure.
