A vehicle has been seized and two apartments have been sealed off by gardaí investigating the death of a Polish man in Dublin at the weekend.
The man (29) died as a result of stab wounds he sustained in an incident in Fairview, Dublin 3, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
He had been working in Ireland for a number of years. He had been living in Naas, Co Kildare, but was visiting friends in Dublin at the weekend when he was fatally injured.
Gardaí believe he was attacked and stabbed having left a gathering at an apartment on Richmond Road.
He had earlier attended a birthday party at the Wright Venue nightclub at Airside Retail Park, Swords, north Co Dublin with a group of Polish friends.
Detectives today examined a section of Richmond Road, where they sealed off two apartments for forensic examination and seized a car.
Supt Mark Curran, from Swords Garda station, said a number of people who were present on the night had been interviewed in connection with the man's death.
However, he appealed to all those who were socialising with the man on Saturday night to come forward and speak to gardaí.
"We know that there are people in the Polish community who may know what happened," he said.
He also appealed to a taxi driver who transported a group of Polish people from Swords to Richmond Road in the early hours of yesterday morning to come forward.
Gardaí believe the man and a number of other Polish people left the Wright Venue nightclub at about 2.30am on Sunday morning.
They got into a taxi and were dropped off near a cash and carry on Richmond Road, where they attended a party at the Hogan View apartment complex.
Supt Curran said it was not yet clear what happened after the man left the party or where exactly the attack took place.
At about 4am, he arrived at the Rotunda Hospital, Parnell Square, Dublin, with stab wounds. He was transferred to the Mater Hospital but despite emergency treatment, he died there at 4pm on Sunday.
A postmortem examination was carried out on his remains today but members of the man's family had not arrived in Dublin from Poland to identify his body as of tonight.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Swords Garda station on (01) 666 4700 or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111.
