Five islands off the coast of Donegal will vote in the General Election today.
The polls, held three days before those on the mainland, on the islands of Aranmore, Tory, Inisfree, Inisbofin and Gola are open between 10.30 a.m. and 7 p.m., with 775 people entitled to vote.
However, local fishermen have called on the residents of Aranmore, the largest of the five islands, to refuse to vote in protest at new EU regulations on fishing boats.
The fishermen say they will protest outside polling stations.
