Mainstream political parties disclosed donations worth a total of €96,523 last year, according to new figures from the Standards in Public Office Commission
This is the lowest figure since 1997 when the law requiring disclosure was introduced.
Each of the 14 political parties registered to contest Dáil or European elections in 2008 were required to furnish a donation statement to the commission revealing donations exceeding €5,078.95.
Fianna Fáil was the only party to disclose donations which were above the disclosure threshold and which were from outside the party. Fianna Fáil said it received a donation of €6,300 from Boyle Sports and one for €5,500 from Phelim McCloskey, owner of the Mosney holiday site.
The maximum value of donations which a political party can accept from the same donor in the same year is €6,348.69.
The Green Party and Sinn Fein disclosed donations of €46,552 and €30,000 respectively from their elected members.
Joe Higgins, the newly elected Dublin MEP, disclosed donations of €6,348 for last year to the Socialist Party.
Nine donations totalling €1,823 were disclosed by the Christian Solidarity Party.
No amounts were disclosed by Fine Gael or the Labour Party.
The Commission has called on political parties to furnish accounts containing all donations received to an independent authority.
