An exhibition in Miami has brought together works by a group of Irish photographers whose focus is landscape, the environment and the relationships between people and place.
Talamh: Contemporary Irish Photography features work by Conor Horgan, Shane Lynam, Fionn McCann, Malcolm McGettigan, Yvette Monahan, Brían Sparks, Agata Stoinska and Linda Brownlee.
It was launched at the city’s Momentum gallery by Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Niamh Smyth, who was in Florida for St Patrick’s Day engagements.
Those whose work is showcased are part of Island Photographers, an artist-led group that has been working to increase the visibility of contemporary photography in Ireland through talks, exhibitions and other creative collaborative initiatives.

The US exhibition, supported by Culture Ireland and the Consulate General of Ireland in Miami, follows Archipelago, shown at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin, and represents the next stage in the group’s efforts to bring Irish work to international audiences.
Talamh, the Irish word for land or ground, frames the show’s exploration of landscape, memory and identity. The photographers approach Ireland through long-form projects that consider themes such as environmental change, the relationship between people and place, and the cultural narratives embedded in the land.

Talamh: Contemporary Irish Photography is at Miami’s Momentum Gallery until April 11th
