THE SOCIAL NETWORK:The Irish actors Kelly Campbell and Killian Scott were at The Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield on Wednesday evening to launch the 11th Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, which takes place from February 14th-24th and will be attended by Danny DeVito, Gabriel Byrne, Tim Roth and Joss Whedon among others.

Scott, who plays Tommy in Love/Hate, said he has a busy year ahead with his film Black Ice screening at the festival, Good Vibrations, out in March and John Michael McDonagh’s new film, Calvary, coming out in September. It features an Irish cast including Brendan Gleeson and Chris O’Dowd.

Kelly Campbell also appears in the festival programme in The Good Man, which is set in Northern Ireland and South Africa. Campbell plays Aidan Gillen’s wife in a moral tale about a Belfast banker. Campbell attended with Louisa Carroll.

The Irish film director and festival board member Paddy Breathnach is hoping to start working on a feature, Perdido Amor, in September, set in Havana, Cuba, with a screenplay by Mark O’Halloran. Breathnach is looking forward to catching up with Oscar-nominated composer Dario Marianelli during the festival, as the pair worked together on their first films.

Breathnach found Marianelli’s tape in a friend’s bathroom and used it in his 1994 feature Ailsa. Inspiration, it seems, can come from anywhere. The composer will be in Dublin for a concert of his film scores, taking place at the National Concert Hall with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra as part of the festival. Marianelli then heads to LA for the Academy Awards where he is nominated for his score to Anna Karenina.

After the festival director, Gráinne Humphreys, previewed the programme, the party continued across the road at the Old Jameson Distillery.

Who we spotted: Film-maker Paul Duane, Irish actor Fiona O'Shaughnessy from the Channel 4 series Utopia, director Tom Hall, actor Tom Ó Súilleabháin.
