MUSIC NEWS:You may have pledged that January will be a month of staying in and detoxing after Christmas, but a tour that promises value for money hits the road next week.
The Certain Three tour, which has been a regular occurrence since 2010, kicks off a 10-date run in Castlebar next Thursday and will see three acts – Irish artists Katie Kim and The Lost Brothers, and Isle of Wight songwriter Puzzle Muteson – play in venues the length and breadth of the country.
The tour was established by Irishman Peter O’Sullivan two years ago, via his own Word of Mouth Agency. “Each year the line-ups have been totally different and appeal to different music fans,” he said. “This year, I wanted to try something different and have three quieter acts that complemented one another. It’s a great opportunity to start the year for bands with a new release coming up.”
Indeed, the Lost Brothers have just released their second album
So Long John Fante
, while Katie Kim will release her new album
Cover & Flood,
a double vinyl comprising 20 tracks recorded over the past three years, this month.
The tour takes in Galway’s Róisín Dubh on the 26th, and Dublin’s Workman’s Club on the 27th.
