Teenage cyclist seriously injured in Galway crash

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to collision which occurred in Claregalway on Tuesday

A teenage cyclist is being treated in hospital for serious injuries following a road crash in Galway.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to what they termed a “serious injury road traffic collision” involving the male cyclist and a car in Galway on Tuesday.

The teenager was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Galway.

The collision took place on the N83, formerly the N17, in Claregalway, Co Galway at around 8pm.

Gardaí and emergency services responded and a technical examination of the scene was carried out by forensic collision investigators.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam or video footage of the road during the time of the incident to come forward.

The area of concern is between Loughgeorge and Claregalway from 8pm to 8.30pm on Tuesday.
